Crystal Castles have announced Amnesty (I) — their first new album of the post-Alice Glass era — set for release on August 19 via Casablanca Records.
The revamped Crystal Castles have already shared a pair of songs from the release: “Concrete” and “Frail”. Today, they’ve unveiled another new single in the form of “Char”. The track demonstrates just how different the project is without Glass, who departed in 2014 to launch a solo career. With Edith Frances at the lead, “Char” is much lighter and less abrasive than the tunes on the outfit’s classic self-titled debut or (III). That’s not to say that it isn’t still decidedly dark and more than a wee bit spooky. However, while the Glass tunes were rare steak and eyeliner, “Char” sounds like the possible beginning of a #healthgoth future.
