About a month ago I wrote about the generous deal available at the St. Regis Langkawi through Starwood Luxury Privileges.

The St. Regis in Langkawi, Malaysia, opened earlier this year, and looks gorgeous. However, it’s a Category 7 property, which means a free night redemption costs 35,000 Starpoints. That seems sort of pricey — I value Starpoints at ~2.2 cents each, so the real “cost” of a 35,000 Starpoint redemption is ~$770.

However, as I wrote about last month, this hotel has the most generous Starwood Luxury Privileges offer I’ve ever seen. Previously the offer was only available through December 27, 2016, though it has now been extended through June 30, 2017.

I only mention this because the offer has been quite popular with people (Ford has booked dozens of these), though I know a lot of people couldn’t quite swing the dates, since they had to stay before the end of the year. Now that the promotion period has been extended, maybe some of you can stay here in the first half of 2017.

Here are the details of the Starwood Luxury Privileges offer at the St. Regis Langkawi:

Complimentary fourth night for stays through June 30, 2017; the promotion may be repeated during stay.  Black-out dates:  March 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 2017.  Complimentary night will be adjusted at check-out.

One 100 USD food and beverage or spa service credit per room, per night

Daily half board for two guests (choice of lunch or dinner)

Daily full breakfast for two guests

Complimentary standard in-room internet access

Complimentary round trip luxury limousine transfers

Access to St. Regis airport lounge on departure

Upgrade on arrival, early check-in and late check-out which are all subject to availability

As you can see, most valuable is that you get a fourth night free, a $100 daily property credit, half board, and roundtrip airport transfers. The Luxury Privileges rate at this hotel should be identical to what shows as the “Preferred rate + breakfast” on the Starwood website, so if you’re interested in booking you may want to look that up yourself first to see if the rate is decent for your dates.

This year I’m still seeing eligible rates as low as ~$290 per night, meaning over four nights you’d be paying an average nightly rate of ~$218, including half board and a $100 daily property credit. That’s just crazy for a St. Regis. Keep in mind that this hotel only has a ~$1 per night tax, so there’s not a pesky 20%+ add-on tax and service charge, as is the case at many resorts.

It seems that for next year their rates are a bit higher, though I suspect over time they may still drop, as we’ve seen this year. The “standard” rate seems to be $480 per night, which means you’d be paying an average of $360 per night with a fourth night free.

You’d still get the roundtrip airport transfers, $100 daily hotel credit, half board, etc. I’d say that’s still a fantastic deal for a St. Regis property. Also keep in mind that these rates can be canceled until a week out, so if the rate drops you can rebook up until that point.

If you want to book a Luxury Privileges rate you’ll have to go through an eligible travel advisor. If you’re an advisor you can of course post your contact info below, or otherwise Ford is also happy to help, and can be reached at fordb@travelsociety.com.

Bottom line

I know dozens of you have booked this deal for this year, so hopefully some of you can take advantage of the deal for stays next year as well, now that you have a much bigger period over which to use the offer. While the rates for next year are a bit higher, I still think this represents an excellent value, especially in comparison to the property’s Category 7 SPG pricing. I know I’ll certainly be trying to plan a stay here in the first half of next year.
