If you think domain conferences are just one party then you’re doing it wrong. Ask any first time attendee if they they feel they got their money’s worth out of the show. I’m pretty sure they felt they met some contacts and learned a few things, that will make them more money in this industry. I feel bad for the people that couldn’t make it. They missed an opportunity to become a better domain investor. Those that came to spam their names might think differently. There were a few that came up to people and said things like “I heard you have a cat named Lacy, I own Lacy.pw if you’d like to make an offer”. People started figuring out who they were and left them on an island.
Not many times where you are standing waiting for an elevator shaking hands and talking to Kevin Ham and Scott Day. Neither one of them had read our site as expected but it was great to have a quick chat and tell Scott that I’m the newest farmer turned domainer.
