CHANDIGARH: The Punjab Government would issue strict warning notices to erring educational institutes liable for deliberately violating the proper implementation of Punjabi language that is stringently required under the promulgated two legislations.
Disclosing this here today a spokesman of Education and Languages Department Punjab revealed that the education department comes to know that some privately managed schools were not implementing the Punjabi language as a compulsory subject from class 1st to class 10th under the Punjab, Punjabi and Learning of other Languages Act, 2008. Besides this, these schools were also found accountable in flouting the Punjabi Language Act-2008 for avoiding the use of Punjabi in their official work.
The spokesman informed that the Education Department has been directed to issue strict warning notices to such erring institutions to implement Punjabi language within fifteen days else the government would have to strictly implement the various provisions enshrined in both Acts. “The state government had already amended the clause (e) of section-2 of the Punjab, Punjabi and Learning of other Languages Act, 2008 through a notification on March 22, 2010.
The spokesman further said that the Punjab Government had already promulgated the two legislations to ensure proper implementation of mother tongue Punjabi in all the offices of Punjab Govt., Boards, Corporations, subordinate Courts and educational institutes in thePunjabState. “In order to inspect the Govt. offices and educational institutes, the State Level and District Level Empowered Committees have already been constituted to ensure proper use of Punjabi as an official language at all levels.
